Hello World! The spring 2008 advertising campaigns are circulating. Some I absolutely love, others, I can really do without. Here is my take on things.
The Versace Spring 2008 collection showed the softer side of Donatella Versace. Known for acid hued tones, and extreme cuts; this season took on a more romantic feeling. Electric neon tones were replaced with soft pastels, and amazing blues and greens, and gaudy cuts were replaced by tasteful cutouts. It was great to see Donatella take a fresh approach, yet remain true to the Versace aesthetic. This season’s ad campaign truly does the collection much justice. Unlike past campaigns, the scaled down ads focus less on the supermodels, and more on the actual collection. Although the ad stars non other that legendary catwalk stalker Gisele Bundchen, it’s the beauty of the collection that pulls you in. Kudos Versace!
Baby Phat by Kimora Lee Simmons is known for its flash and star studded runway shows. Weather you love or hate Kimora, you have to respect her for turning a gimmick started by Russell Simmons into a multimillion dollar empire. As much as I respect Kimora as a businesswoman, I have to say, that I am a little less than pleased with her spring ad campaign. With the theme “St. Tropez”, we see Kimora laid out on the beach in all her glory. But is it really enough? I feel as though this is another excuse for Kimora to say “LOOK AT ME!!” What could have been an amazing ad campaign, turned out to be just another bland over retouched photo shoot. I love you Kimora, but you need to head back to the drawing board with that one.
I don’t know what Marc Jacobs has been up to lately, but whatever it is, I hope he keeps it up. Louis Vuitton is one of my favorite brands, and I love Marc Jacobs as its creative director. I am always curious to see what this creative visionary will come with next. Louis Vuitton is always hot, but I think Marc really turned up the heat with this years spring ads. Starring legendary beauties, Naomi Campbell, Eva Herzigova, Stephanie Seymour and Natalia Vodianova, this is one of the best ads for the brand ever. Mixing urban elements with high fashion, Marc takes these iconic bombshells, dresses them in the ultra posh collection, and poses them atop pimped out candy painted classic cars. I think it’s amazing!! Bravo Marc Jacobs on a job well done!
Dolce and Gabbana have been a powerhouse duo for years in the fashion industry. For two decades the legendary twosome has intrigued us with impeccable tailoring, mixing and matching patterns and groundbreaking silhouettes. This season, the spring ads feature legendary cat walkers Gemma Ward, Jessica Stam, and Lily Donaldson. The duo, which are known for there often controversial advertisements, have taken a much tamer approach this season. I enjoy the collection. However, the ad appears to be much too bland for my taste. The clothes look great in the art inspired campaign, but I feel that so much more could have been done. Maybe they will make up for with fall. We shall see.

Larry was born April 30, 1983 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. From the beginning, the arts have been an influential force in his life. While most kids were outside playing, Larry was busy drawing and painting. Even at a young age, Larry has always dared to be different. During his early teenage years, his love affair with the arts continued, but his aspirations changed. Larry discovered fashion and decided "This is what I want to do with the rest of my life". Around this time he became heavily influenced by the designs of Tom Ford. Other designer influences included the duo of Dolce and Gabbana, and Alessandro Del'Aqua.
After graduating from Milwaukee High School of the Arts in 2001, Larry enrolled at The International Academy of Design and Technology in Chicago. In college, Larry challenged himself to become a better designer. He credits that experience with teaching him proper clothing construction techniques, and the inside workings of the fashion industry. Armed with this knowledge, Larry felt he was ready to step out on his own, and Asia Mynor was born.
Asia Mynor by Larry was founded in December of 2004. It was established as a need to service today's woman with the ultimate couture experience. And with this experience, every client should feel as if she is the only woman who matters. We do this by creating pieces that make women feel sexy and empowered, no matter the shape or size.
Asia Mynor by Larry is currently in the developing stages for a lot of exciting projects. One of the most anticipated is the menswear line, HOMME by Asia Mynor.
